"New" Dining Room Chairs

My mom gave me a her old dining set when I got married. She got it when she married my dad about 25 years ago. I always thought the chairs were kind of....ugly (no offense, mom). But have you ever priced out dining room chairs?? They are SOOOO expensive. Then I got some inspiration from another blog that I like - All Things Thrifty - and decided to give them a face lift.

Before- they had burnt orange corduroy seats.
I used Kilz Primer and Red Krylon spray paint. It didn't take long to paint all of them. I was able to finish all the painting in a few hours with dry time. I went to JoAnns and found some adorable fabric ON SALE for $3 per yard. I bought some extra so I could make some throw pillows. I learned how to do this glazing technique from the All Things Thrifty website to make it have that antique look with the black glaze. It was so easy!! There is a step by step tutorial on her website. I also purchased a stable gun at Walmart for $8 so I could cover the seats. When it was all said and done I think I spent around $45.

My sweet husband surprised me last year for Mothers Day with this beautiful dining room table from Down East. It has a leaf you can add in to seat 8 people. I also have 2 more chairs to do....I was thinking about doing them yellow :) We'll see...

Thanks for the chairs, mom!!
