I have chosen Krylon's Ballet Slipper Pink for the furniture in Taylor's room. I also wanted to add a little pop with paintable wall paper. This is how it looks now:
Here's how I did it:
1 can Kilz primer
3 cans Krylon Gloss Ballet Slipper Pink spray paint
about 5 1/2 feet of paintable wall paper from Lowes
Ralph Lauren Glaze- tinted black
First I cleaned the dresser and removed the hardware.I applied the wallpaper before I primed the dresser. Make sure that you follow the instructions that come with it. Originally, I thought I would apply the wallpaper and then trip the edges with a razor blade to get a really clean line. Bad idea. The wallpaper just tore when I tried to cut it- so cut the paper exact before you apply.
This was my first experience using wallpaper- and it was actually really easy. I also didn't allow 24 hours for it to dry... I really needed to get it done because the temp was dropping this week and you need it to be at least 65 degrees to spray paint. It turned out fine, though.
This is a picture of the side without any wallpaper. So boring!
And here it is painted with the wallpaper. Sooo much cuter! But its still not quite there... I only added the glaze lightly to the edges of the dresser and drawers. I didn't want it to be too much. Here is the cute scrolled feet before glaze:After glaze: Then I applied the glaze to the wallpaper. There is a tutorial on how to glaze here.
I decided to leave the hardware the way that it was because it was already so cute. I just waited for everything to dry, put the hardware back on - and she's all ready!! This is what the sides look like with the glazed wallpaper I also found this little shelf at the DI for $2. I decided to just paint this and leave off the glaze. I used to collect mini tea sets when I was little- so I will be displaying them in Taylor's room. I will be posting pics of Taylor's room when everything is done. Thanks for reading!
